Bhutan has a forest area of more than 60% of the entire country. That makes the Kingdom of Bhutan the only carbon negative country in the world. In reality, Bhutan produces more oxygen than carbon-di-oxide, adding more life to the world.
I wonder whether this is the reason that makes Bhutanese people so friendly, helpful and honest. Whenever I approached someone in Bhutan for a portrait, almost all the time they happily agreed to it. Though I prefer to click an environmental portrait most of the time, I usually interact with the person once I clicked my first shot, yet I was comfortable with the other way around this time.
The language was a barrier in communication as I don’t have a local guide with me, but that does not interrupt in taking some lively portraits of Bhutan’s beautiful people. Below is the collection of my favourite portraits from our first trip to Bhutan. I will add more to this post in future when I will explore more of the Land of Thunder Dragon.
